My father was a military man

Splendid dedication to a wonderful father and hero of our country. I know you are so proud of him. All our heroes in heaven will be looking down and watching their families on Father's Day. Bless you.

Oh boy did you ever hit home on this write.. It is very well written, showing the love you had and have for your father.
I lost my father 2 years ago. He had served in the army.
All throughout my childhood, I watched my father die over and over, with visual memories of watching people die all around him at war. He never really overcame the bloodshed.
Up until he died, he became very depressed and withdrawn, his heart so saddened. He was a medic and had to try to keep the wounded alive.
It was very difficult for my mother to see him constantly living in the emotional realm.
Even though it hurt me too, I was close to my dad and his emotions. I tried not to let the tragedy of his memories take me down. I know my father was a very emotional person and I learned a great deal from him, even though he was sad.
Oh, there were many happy times as well. Our family always tried to find something good in everything, no matter how bad it may have seemed.
I have heard many soldiers say, that ww11 had meaning, and there was something to fight for, unlike the soldiers who served in vietnam, with no one welcoming them home, and that makes me grieve deeply.
Regardless, war is war, and its all sad. Fighting for our country is not an easy task. I am very proud of all who serve and have served, keeping our country safe night and day
Our sweet LORD, is watching and keeping our soldiers and our country safe in the most possible way.
My brothers and sisters tried hard not to bring up any subjects on wars, and we were careful doing our homework when it came down to history. We had to keep war movies out of the home.
Then one day my father got a call from his neice. She was writing a paper on WW11 and needed information. My mother did not want him to do it, yet my dad and I quietly went behind her back to record the events.
After the recording, it took many days to do it. Many moments of tears in between sentences; very difficult to write from the recorded rough draft in order to send the finished piece to his neice.
Later in years my brother burned it on a CD. Having him tell the story and I to write it was all worth it because even though it is sad, our family has his voice on tape and on paper; leaving a part of his sharing love and life to all of us here on earth.
The events that ocurr in our lifetime can be very sad, sometimes depressing. Most of all, they are milestone memories and are very valuable to the living. Memories of love and other emotions given to us, until we meet our loved ones in heaven.
You or I may never stop missing our father; sadness comes and goes. And that is when we soon realize we must place our trust and faith in our LORD, to know that He is taking care of us all.
