Never satisfied…such a whore
Consuming everything in your path,
Never a day that I’m free from your wrath

You…addiction…will never cease
You…addiction…an evil beast
You…addiction…never cured
So many vices…how absurd

Although I’m free – no more constraints,
Still my mind your message taints
Terrific pain bestowed – your grip so tight,
Your grip the cause for my plight

Though now at rest you still remain,
Beckoning control, although in vain
A stronger will has overcome...
Retribution for what you’ve done

This is awesome, Wiz. I had a son with an insatiable addiction. Took years for him to get to where he could make it a day, then another day. One step at a time, as it will always be. It can't be cured, it is always there, but it can be defied. It is just finding that inner strength and the fact that you actually do matter more than that drug. Strength to you, my friend.

Rita

I really like this poem. I can sort of relate to parts! I used to be so attached to someone, and because of that he had so much power, but now I have found a beautiful boyfriend and things have changed!!

WOW. A lot of depth to this write...The anger and resentment is fully felt...You laid this out like a pro, and I'm willing to bet it felt damn good writing this...I know the feeling. Very well done.

Paul,

I have read this over, . . . gosh, I can't even remember how many times. I am humbled and impressed beyond
that which words could ever express. I have often mentioned how I admire your strength and optimism. This [piece]
expressly epitomizes that . Perhaps a quote, (oh god, not another one ! lol) will help to explain . . .

"“He who gains a victory over other men is strong; but he who gains a victory over himself is all powerful.”
~Lao Tzu

Although the write in itself is powerful, the message here is deafening. I feel it. And your power is insurmountable.
It would be painfully easy to give up when faced with any adversity. True strength is found, when one holds themselves
steadfast in spite of it.

This was exceptional, dear wiz. There is much to be proud of here.

moved beyond movement . . .

~Breezy

I'm feelin' ya' here, as I'm sure many do. But out of those many... only a very few could put it sooo well.

Great job!!!
