Her eyes looking up to her with such a blue color.
“You must believe in angels,” the little girl said.
“I’ve told you once and I’ll tell you again, NO! Now go to bed!”
“But mamma, mamma you’ve got to believe. Remember she came and kissed me goodnight, her lips were the color of cherries and her eyes were as green as.....”
“Go to bed I said.”
But the little girl was persistent as all little ones are, “ I’ve got to make you believe tonight for tomorrow I may not be here.”
Her mother was quiet for quite a long time, her eyes opened and were full of such great sorrow.
“You’ll never leave me,” the mother said quietly. “ You’ll be in my heart.”
The little girl climbed up on the couch. Sat on her mothers lap and gave her mother a kiss on the cheek.
Her mother smiled down at her little girl that night and said, “ Goodnight sleep tight I’ll let the angels in tonight.”
The mother went to sleep that night feeling that everything would be all right.
Two months later that beautiful little girl died, quiet and peaceful in her bed.
They dressed her in white and on her lips was a deep shade of red. “She looks just like an Angel,” the family and friends said.
“ Yes, yes she does.” the mother said with a smile and a tear.
After the burial, and everyone said goodbye, the mother looked to the sky and blew a kiss. She wiped a tear from her eye as she said, “ Yes, I believe in angels because I believe in you.”

There is simply no other word to use to describe this, even though it is well overused. But this is one of the most beautiful touching poems I have read lately. I too believe.

Smiles,
Rita
