It's just a really good clue into what I feel sometimes. That teeny tiny voice that thinks, Maybe if I were hurt or something... Maybe then they'd care. [bodytext] => Last night I dreamed a nightmare
Well, for most it would have been
But I was calm the whole way through it
And woke with quiet sadness within.

It was a big black demon
Two-dimensional in sight
With curved, sharp claw-like hands.
Came between my wall and bed
Within the inch-wide crack
I felt it standing over me
Before I saw it's shape.

It simply shredded up my flesh.
I did not cry; I did not wake;
But, oh, I did bleed.

And I must have slept the night's remains
Until my slumber's morning rose.
The monster simply cradled me
My apathetic, limp, torn body.
It carried me; it drifted but
It's feet stomped without sound
It took me to the choir room
Spread my body on the floor
And a few smears of blood on the tile.

Those already there just cocked their heads
And stared a curious stare
And more came in and saw the sight
Confused, of course, transfixed.

The demon monster stayed the while,
Backed toward the front of the room.

I was not dead but did not move.
There was no want or will.

And nobody noticed the monster.
Only my love knelt at my side.
And my eyes smiled at him.
He knew it well.
Though my lips did not move to a grin.

When others caught my eye's sloth glance
A pensive look was achieved by my brow.
I couldn't muster any more emotion than that.

And I'd turned to my love to smile again
Each time the lips followed suit now.

I did not hate the monster
Nor was I mad or upset at his doings.

And my love held my hand so I could smile.
And nobody stirred.
And nothing more became of me. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 212 [topic] => 31 [informant] => liquidsunshine [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

Chels, this was so sad and beautiful at the same time. I love the way you wrote this, it's so wonderfully composed.

Keep up the good work.

An interesting tale you've told. It sounds like a frightening dream, but the lack of fright taken in the dream is strange. Surreal, as you said. It gives it an unique flavor. Well penned.

I hope the tenny tiny voice does not disturb you much.

Andrew

... Interesting. (I truly dont know what to say about this) I hate dreams like that they are the ones that disturbed me the most. Be well.

One of your most interesting poems. I really liked it. It awakens my mind to face what I truly fear.
Take care. (If I´d been in your dream, at your side I´d have´d lived to be)
