[hometext] => I wrote this a long time ago for my Dad; I have never given it to him.
[bodytext] => Dad Dad - I never knew you as my hero I never climbed upon your knee And when my childish world caved in You were not the one who was there for me You were a ghost who stalked my mind half real, half fantasy - an image in my mind I dreamed of meeting you - telling you all about me and all about what you missed But all I could ever do was wonder... I wondered who, what, when, where, how and why All the things a good journalist would I can tell you, Mom was - no endless well of information More like an endless hall of closed doors So I waited and I wondered... Sometimes I even got mad not even really at you - more at God After all - He was the one who let this all happen But you know what? It was Him, God who brought me to where I am today. I met Jesus as my savoir, He forgave me my sins, so I could forgive others - theirs Then I met you, as a man who had known perhaps too much of life You faced your mistakes and you were sorry for them... You tried to make up for all the wrong - you tried so very hard it is not an easy path to choose No, Dad, I never knew you as my hero But I know you as a human Dad - I love you for who you are.
