[bodytext] => My father planted an apple tree Told me son, don't ever let this tree fall It's the most important thing other than your mother But who needs an apple tree afterall? I blessed the ground around it Fertilized and watched it grow old I sheltered it from the sun and wind Told it that anyway, the sun was much too bold One day I moved away from there Waved goodbye to my father's love and care I wondered who would watch the apple tree And the wonderful blossoms and apples that tree did bear With no one to care for it, The beautiful tree grew so very sad Gray, cold earth around it Lonesome and weary as things always turned out bad Such a beautiful apple tree Bearing apples and blossoms year after year Chopped into splinters Cursed to the rotten earth around it, leaves shaking in fear Have no fear, dear apple tree Bellowed the ever shining sun I am immortal and I shall see to it you live forever I need a friend and it seems that you might be the one The apple tree was delighted Tried with all his might to stand his beautiful trunk back straight The sun reached out to help him But before he could look the apple tree was burning, and it was getting late Oh well, said the bright sun I shall find another friend some very different time He decided not to touch anything from now on For he ruined that one good friend of mine [comments] => 1 [counter] => 162 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Exodus [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
