With the rest of the pieces;
The broken mirror of tomorrows agenda,
Sprawled against the carpeted floor;
Sometimes it’s so hard to leave,
When your heart can’t find the door;
With everything you’re leaving behind,
He calls you out, forevermore;
The droplets of your memories,
Fall out across the floor;
He’s lined them up like little soldiers,
They’re headed for the door;
Colorless whispers call into the black less night,
Fading away, forevermore.
If it’ll be alright,
What’s with his broken smile?
His voice calls,
Over and across every mile;
Peace comes to the rested,
Scratch it harder and erase the denial;
Of broken dreams and forgotten life.
What lies behind these sunken eyes,
Is naught but your worst fear,
A fallen angel,
Touching love,
Taking in and feeling too much;
What can never be is all I’ve ever wanted,
Your touch and caress,
Upon my callused skin.
Tear droplet cheeks tell no lies,
Memories of a broken state of mind never fulfill this broken piece of me.
Take this from me,
Lock it up,
Store away the key,
Save it for your rainy day.
But that day never comes.
Waiting and pacing in this tiny space of mine,
Happiness and all the rest were never meant for me.
