Different kinds with different leaves
City traffic an even flow
Non too fast non too slow
I come into my little town
Port Huron
Dying since a mall and Walmart came in
It's not the same since we lost our five & dimes
Woolworth,Newberry,Sears and Kresge
Then there was Cunninghams with their soda jerk
An icecream cone double or even triple dip A malted milk,a girlfriend and half a day sips
If I may say
Those were the days
O'I'm reminiscing
Missing
Like river water memories floating by
Pinegrove park is coming into view
Families daddies mothers toddlers and babies new
I love the freshness of the sunny spring air
Hand in hand young men with ladies fair
There's The Saint Clair river today running smooth
O'the memories of my youth
Sorry I did it again
Forgive me for an old man's sin
Parking my car I walk to its shore
Seeing beautiful Canada right next door
I shade my eyes
Watching the silver blue water passing by
Walking the board walk at the waters edge
Spotting the Bluewater bridges up ahead
Beautiful arches similar to heaven's gates
My Lord,My Lord I can hardly wait
Lake Huron at the mouth of the river
Sun streaking across with rays of silver
Waves breaking reflecting her diamonds
I dream on
The Thomas Edison Inn it's wonderful site
Newly weds and memorable nights
I stare in wonder imagining the lovers there
Thoughts in my mind do I dare
I catch myself smiling
Under these bridges I ask my girl to take this ring
Thirty years ago this Spring
The bright sun sets the water on fire
Remembering youth and all its desires
I still have a little spring in my step
Above that not much left
I head back to my parked car
Ending this before I go too far

Beverly I honestly
Love you

Too bad things can't stay "old fashioned" forever. It's too bad that big companies have to come and intrude on small towns. But that's progress....or so they say.

I enjoyed this poem! Thanks for sharing.
