As I lay me down to sleep,
And pray the Lord my soul to keep,
I pray tonight that you’ll find me near
the words I speak I hope that you hear.

God bless Mommy and my Aunt Sue,
my brother, my sister, my puppy too.
They say I’m little and don’t understand,
But it’s you that I know holds me in his hand.

God bless my Uncle his name is John,
I’ve never met him, but you see my Mom,
Told me that he had passed away,
So I know that you will watch him today.

God bless my daddy, he went away,
to some other place where he could stay.
Tell him thanks for the toy he sent me,
I wish now and then it were him I could see.

Bless Uncle Sammy, from what I’m told
He has everything that riches behold.
They say he has the world by the hands
I guess its you God, he don’t understand.

Bless mommy’s job, though it don’t quite meet
Our needs today, I’ve had nothing to eat.
But mommy says it will be ok
Relying on you, for our next day.

So if I should die before I wake
I pray dear Lord my soul to take.
But I have a question to ask today,
Do grownup’s listen, like you “when I pray?”
