Iridescence in flight which you highly desired
I soared with such grace, kept you mesmerised
You made me feel unique, even idolised

Now I'm just a shadow of whom I used to be
Trapped inside this jar, never to be free
My vivid luminescence now perished to grey
Confined to these walls now, to stay, to decay

You've captured my spirit, ensnared my soul
Fluttering only under your control
Never alone, within your haunting stare
Fallen so easily, caught in your lair

You pull off my wings and I fall to the ground
Writhing in agony yet making no sound
You show no remorse for inflicting such pain
Memories of passion are all that remain

Limbless and bleeding, your fetish is done
You cast me aside for a prettier one
You catch a new trophy, imprison her beauty
Then tear her apart with your bestial cruelty

Painful, indeed, with a good concept behind it. Well written... but that's not all that matters. I see a lot of emotion in this, and can only hope your wings heal.
A beautiful poem.

-Eve.

Quite a read..indeed what a read...it does evokes within me a certain feeling of sadness and a loss.... the story well known to most of us and this view of it brings almost a tear to my eyes. I can feel the sadness and almost..almost picture myself inside that glass jar...quite vivid in its telling...nice write!...though if expended by including details of past freedoms of the butterfly aould perhaps heightened its impact...just my opinions....nothing more.

Another amazing write...I loved this line the most in this one:

You pull off my wings and I fall to the ground
Writhing in agony yet making no sound
You show no remorse for inflicting such pain
Memories of passion are all that remain

Awesome work!

A very powerful poem from a powerful poet. When you control the reader, and take them to where you are, you indeed control the words. And you do just that. Well done. May your sorrow pass and heartaches heal.
Take care.
David
