The neighbors went outside only to see what they'd seen many times before
The mother yelling at her child for something that couldn't be made out
Staring as she slapped her hard across the face
All they did was turn around and shut there doors
Shutting out the young girl's cries for help

Moments later the yelling had stopped
But the reason why was something horrible
Soon there were police swarming outside the house
Running inside with guns in their hands the neighbors watched in awe
One police signaled over the radio for an ambulance to be sent

Standing outside in their "perfect" yard
They just watched the paramedics wheel out someone on the stretcher
The body was covered up
As they looked on following behind them was the mother being escorted by police
In handcuffs being taken away for killing her child

The woman stared at the mother as she passed by
Then turned away and went inside
Whenever a problem came the neighbor just turned away
She didn't help when the child sent her cries
All she did was hide inside [comments] => 6 [counter] => 182 [topic] => 32 [informant] => UnlovedChild [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

How tragic the poem...
*it stabs pains in my stomache.*
Yes things like that happen in this violent world....I wish it didn't but where we live we have neighbourhood watch...we do have a system that works in this situation....but anyway....
...your write explains how in some suburbs sadly dont!
cheers!~

Really intense poem Amy. Very descriptive and very sad. Too bad people are really like that neighbor. Good poem.
