What would you do
If your best friend
Suddenly left this world
And put their life to an end?

Would your tears fall,
Would your blood be shed?
Or would you think it over
Think maybe they are better off dead?

Would your heart wrench
Would you scream in disbelief,
Or would you be calm,
Know that death is a relief?

When the news was first told
I couldn’t digest it,
Nothing was making sense
It was like life was about to split.

Tears poured from my eyes,
Blood ran from my arm.
I couldn’t think at all,
Just do myself harm.

My heart felt like it was breaking,
There was nothing to do but scream,
I couldn’t stay calm,
The pain was at an extreme.

Suddenly the thought came to mind
That something caused this
A pain greater then mine,
For of course it exists.

Then I remembered
The looks of great pain
That were hidden in her eyes
The ones she could not contain.

Then I thought about
The ancient grief
Tucked beneath all her smiles.
The thing that caused disbelief.

Soon I came to realize
Death was the only answer
To the life long problem
That haunted her like cancer.

And so she ended her life
With the slash of a knife,
And the thought that this way
She’ll go through no more dismay.

This didnt really happen to me, it's just something I fear with all my heart.

death is but a door...for some, an opening to another beginning; for others, just an ending - something just to close. if you have a friend thinking of hastening the process, remind her(him) of how the body is found --- not a pretty sight, i know this from fact.
very emotional write
thanks for sharing

Wow...this is awesome. Wonderful. Superb. You have great talent. I think I'm actually going to print this out, seriously. It really really spoke to me. Losing one of my friends to suicide (or by other means for that matter) is one of my deepest fears. I've cut over it a few times before...I know what that feels like, worrying constantly. Thank you thank you thank you. Stay strong.
