Serving as a jagged backdrop to the forest surrounded lake
Mist billowing like a hot vapor from a dragons' breath
Rising from the lakes dark and calm misty surface
Gave the lake an eerie mystical qualitiiy

Our canoe glided silently over the darkened water
Like a giant water bug skimming the surface of the lake
Dwarfed by the height and magnitude of the surrounding forest
The moon hovered low in the early dawn star filled sky
Casting a shimmering path of light that danced across the lakes surface

Intermingled with the mist spiraling from the waters surface
We were engulfed in a hushed silence
Then out of the depths and far reaches of the lake
The forlorn melodious call of the Loon, like a foghorn sounding
Its' echo pierced the silence of the mist shrouded lake

The inflamed red ball of the sun, now hovered just above the horizon
Adding a faint pink hue to the early dawn sky
The moon and stars were still prevalent and visible to the eye
It was as if two different celestial worlds had united as one
Like a supernatural intermingling phenomenon

Now the only sound was the dipping of the paddles
With each stroke we glided closer to the rock studded shore
The magnificent pines towering above forming a canopy over head
A campsite nestled in upon the pine needle carpeted floor
Large boulders scattered haphazardly about on the ground

We just sat there in awe of this glorious vision
And let it register that we had arrived
To spend a few days in this, God's paradise
With the sun now just filtering through the trees
I knelt down on my knees to pray
I felt the presence of God in this awesome environment today [comments] => 5 [counter] => 204 [topic] => 27 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )

I am so there ... Your descriptions are painting pictures that the mind registers clearly. A wonderful journey through the mist and fabric of your words, Nicely phrased Terry.
