The sun and cool air around me
I just sat thinking and
I thought about long ago and far away
when there had onced lived Kings and Queens.

The life was hard and the serfs were poor
But Me thinks is that not so far from how we live now?
How simlar it was with The towns still reigned by govner or senator
More the ruling class.
We may not have Kings and Queens
But we have the serfs.

The working class, out there either pounding the pavement for a job
or a better one.
Imigining I - walk and pretend .

Looking over at the high rise buildings
How they lump whole groups together .
Reminding me of a Ant Village
Ant farm more like. And what do these grouped, gather masses do?
They work.

Turning as if I am blind , I let my feet take me
I round a corner to enter a Pub , A Tavern and Joint
of Entertainment to find
Beer and wine freely flowing
From patrons Laughing and Drinking and having a good time.

The outside forgotten
the sweat wiped from each working brow
Long gone By now its party time.

My feet take me out and i wonder further onto the inner city.
The most saddess area of town.
There ain't a whole lot that are working and its sad and depressing to look around
But here are the masses of the Forgotten
Hoping that they too won't be found.

Their cries are true
there stories so oddly familar
But these are the poor of the poorer
That just some how grew.

Some of them were working
And others never could
Some of their eyes are so threathening
you wonder what made you come here.
Why should I care ?

But look deeper into the filth of the clothes,
the stench of their skin
and you will find Just another
human being within.

Moving on I feel carried and almost awaken
by chattering and loud noise.
How strange I suddenly feel - so filled to bursting with laughter
As I enter a whole new realm.
China Town .
Their speech amuse me
and I softly giggle
as not to offend
And make up in my mind
What I think they are saying.
Their cultures so differnt and the wares sold in market type places
Just for a while it was like shopping in those strange, new markets
far far away .

Alas I feel myself returning and slowly coming back down .
Only to find meself alone staring across the street again
downtown
Wondering and wishing that bus
Could take me just one more time round.

I agree with Phil: very thoughtful write.
I like how you've just taken us on a journey, just shared your day. That's a great kind of poetry: just making a day known, making sure it's not forgotten.
Great job.

Lots of love and peace be with you,

chelsea

Ah! The good old days. Twelve hours a day six hours Saturdays. week in week out and yes the only consolation was a pint of beer and perhaps a woodbine cigarette. Bed was just the place to be in between work hours. The Bosses want these days to return as the dividends must be paid to the shareholders. Great write 5/5 from bernard.
