"He who loves money never has money enough" - cf. Sirach 5:8

My clammy hands await
knots in stomach turn
put more on my plate
forever I shall yearn
need is not the state
only with want I burn
enslaved to poverty-hate
no lesson will I learn
no use for a debate
I crave more then I earn

Consumed by fear of losing posession
distorted view of need and want
petrified of a material depression

My greed I shall never lose
Covetousness is ingrained in my heart
money over happiness I chose
with even one penny I will not part!

My punishment?
I laugh at thee
hell will boil me in oil
but still the wealthiest I be

Greed...

Creed, is probably one of the deadliest sins out there. But damn girl this series is getting so good with every new sin you post, you have outdone yourself.

I really like the first stanza,
these always rock.

Of course, I also
like to see what kind of punishment
you have in store...

I think this is my favourite of the seven deadly
sins series. You just portrayed greed so
wonderfully in this poem. I loved the image of
"material depression" so original and so
wonderful. You should get published girl if for
some reason you aren't.

I like this one.
I don't know what "Covetousness" means, though, but it sounds bad. Talk about sin. And yet it's all too true, he loves women will never have enough, or something like that. Reminds me of me. Hell, boil me in oil. That'd be the least of my worries.
