And I don't know if I can
Find the truth that lies beneath the surface
To find just what it is that is my purpose

With all that life has thrown at me over the years
Was I somehow still able to swallow my fears?
Can I look at myself and be proud of what I've done?
Or do I constantly feel like I have to run?

The confusion I hold inside is manifesting
It builds up growing stronger each day
That's why I need to start correcting
The past that creates so much pain

Lost is what I am
And I don't know if I can
Find the truth that lies beneath the surface
To find just what it is that is my purpose

How can I be satisfied with how things are
When the past holds so many scars
If I could go back and do things differently I would
Cause that's the only way I believe that I could

Change the way things are today
Feel that nothing is ever the same
Believe that sometime I will be needed
And rid this feeling that I'm depleted

Lost is what I am
And I don't know if I can
Find the truth that lies beneath the surface
To find just what it is that is my purpose

Even though this is how I feel right now
I will never know where the future will lead
So maybe I should lift myself up from the ground
And not care about what others choose to think of me

Answers are never clear, so I looked beyond what I could see
The emptiness within disappeared when I found a reason to be
I spent my life searching for things I wish I could've had
Instead of embracing the very things that I have [comments] => 2 [counter] => 172 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Tobe [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
