Array ( [sid] => 82135 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => I Have a Name [time] => 2005-01-30 11:18:13 [hometext] => There are those of you who seem to find it very easy to berate and belittle those poets who show very little but a screen name... I dedicate this to you... I KNOW you know who you are... If you don't like it... DON'T COMMENT... [bodytext] => I am Bob
I am NOT normal.
I am a senior in high school.
I am seventeen.
I don't yet have my driver's licence.
I am six foot two.
I can't do push-ups in rapid succession.
I've spent all my life in emotional suppression
For many years, the pressure built.
I was the kid who hid in the corner,
Not wanting to be there,
Not wanting attention,
Because I knew I'd be picked on.
I found a place where I can find emotional release.
It seemed like a wonderful place, where I could be at peace.
But there are those here,
Who can't get enough,
Of tearing me down,
Making themselves look so tough.
The pen, they say, is mightier than the sword.
But the keyboard, it seems, could take on a gun.
Here people put their hearts on the line.
Some people will take advantage of that,
Take the exposed heart, and mash it down flat
Leaving the person an emotional void.
I've gotten too good at being stomped on
To be left a void.
These poetry bullies
Do not understand
There's a thing called opinion
That should be left to stand.
I don't like punk music,
I don't like rap,
I don't like pop music,
In my opinion, they're crap.
Does that make it bad music?
No, not at all.
That's just MY opinion.
If YOU don't like MY writing,
Does that make it bad?
No...
That's YOUR opinion.
So I misspell some things,
And make grammar mistakes
That doesn't make me a horrible person.
What would be if I was to do what you do
And tear down someone for an error or two.
I've thought to stop posting,
As I've had enough,
But I'll tell you all now,
I'm going to continue,
And if you don't like my writing,
Then DON'T READ MY STUFF! [comments] => 15 [counter] => 239 [topic] => 69 [informant] => sir_odd87 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => poets )

Bravo. You tell em. I am sick of attacks being made on poems. It's awful.

Hmmm, I especially like these lines:
The pen, they say, is mightier than the sword.
But the keyboard, it seems, could take on a gun.

Mostly because of the feeling and truth behind them.

Good write, don't let what they say stop you.

*hugs* Phil xxx

It's true that spelling and grammer don't add up to what kind of a person we are, but why not take the critique in the way it is meant, if it is not unkind..and improve your writing? Someone has been giving me one star lately out of spite and I was going to leave.. I decided I'm stronger than that..I hope..I leave comments sometimes on spelling and stuff..I hope it isn't me.. I don't mean to be unkind..I always want to help, knowing that editors won't accept shoddy work..one mistake and they usually won't continue reading..

Well said!! And I agree with you 1000%. There are some people here who do not belong simply because they choose to be rude to others.
Good write....don't let ppl make you leave..

Hi Bob,
I spent 58 years of my life trying not to be what the worlds definition of lonely is.
I'm a country gal but I've done lotssa traveling over the years so it's not like I set hear where for the most part it's very peacefull. So normal to me is a joke. the reason I live in the country 'cause there's so much duMb **** out there that makes me very angry and I'm not a bit nice when angry.
I've notice jus eaxactly what u r are talking about and i GET ANGRY WHEN i SEE IT! tAKE MY UN CAPITAL I'S AND THE WORD EXACTLY up there in the sentence. It's my fingers get lost on my key board. I had an injury years ago in a sewing plant and a fifty pound sewing machene fell on my left thumb and smashed it. It injured my arm, neck and shoulder, messed up my musle-n-nerves. So that's whhy some of my words get messed up. I try to edit them but being a voleenteer on this site and another one I stay in a hurry. I don't use spell check 'cause much of a time I write in my slang.
U hang in there friend cause not all are so cruel on this site but I can tell you we do have more than enuff cruelty on the site here but then that's their right if that's how they wonna spend their precious time.
Keep writing 'cause this is a wonderfull write and very well said. If someone angers me on hear most time I jus let it pass cause I couldn't speak the words i wonna say with out posting in the special section and more than likely they'ed never see it. Don't let anyone, any where get to u 'cause u have the raw natural talent it takes to write. Many people have to go to school to write like u and are jus jealous cause u can do it with much ease. U have God given talent so jus keep flowing with it.
I really admire the way u wrote this.
Take care Bob and I'm Edith aka/emystar.
luv, huggs, smiles,
emy

You tell them, my friend.

But do not let such things leave a permanent foul taste on your tongue. Pursue writing, better yourself, and enjoy what you wish to enjoy while here. Bitterness really has no place at YPDC - it is here, but it negates all the excellent things the place can do for one - and as for those who seem to purvey bitterness here, you need not listen to them. Persevere, and learn to turn a deaf ear to criticism that has other than good in mind. It's not easy, but if you can do it, it will help you throughout life.

Keep it up.

Andrew

This was amazing.. I liked how you just voiced yourself and how you told everyone that you are not perfect.. I hope people will understand this and leave you alone.. I mean not everyone is perfect and sometimes people just don't understand that.. I have read another one of your peoms and i thought it was great.. well anyways keep voicing your opinions and feelings because those are the best kinds of poems to read...

take care
christina
