Array ( [sid] => 8037 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => When Love is Alive [time] => 2002-12-06 02:20:00 [hometext] => I wrote this when I realized how many people take each other for granted, when in the beginning they couldn't get enough of each other. Sometimes we lose track of why we fell in love... [bodytext] => How does one lose it? Where does it go? It would seem impossible to lose grasp on something that we cling to so desperately.
But we do... don't we?

In the beginning it takes our breath, heals all our pain, fills our skys blue, and our emptiness with fields of wildflowers. It becomes a craving and we thirst for it with an unquenchable desire. However much we get, it is never enough. When Love is alive.

We awake wach morning with a song in our hearts, with a smile on our lips and a bounce in our step. Goosebumps tickle our skin every time we are close and even an inadvertent touch makes us gasp with pleasure. There is nothing we will not do for them, we are thoughtful and unselfish.
When Love is alive.

The world makes perfect sense and we see beauty everywhere we look. We notice things we did not before, like the unique honesty of the moon, or how brightly the stars shine. The joy of the children playing in the park, the vibrant colors of a rainbow in the morning mist all seem so clear.
When Love is alive.

Far too often the novelty wears off, and we forget where we were just yesterday. It is clouded and obscured by the rat race of life, pride and habit. Remember the beginning, remember the road that started the journey, remember when love was alive.

How do we forget? We don't, we become indolent. Tragic isn't it?

Hello Smooth,

What a great write! I almost started crying because that same thing happened to me. I was going out with this woman I met on the net. She was in Kentucky and I was in Georgia. I moved in, all was great! I mean you couldn't ask it to be no better until like the 3rd month I was there... we started having some trouble. And finally I moved out after about a year... I just not handle it no longer. Now we're not even friends but that's another story! Thank you for sharing.

It's so sad but true, we sometimes do forget just why we fell in love with the person we are with all to often, and we let pain and hurtful words get in the way of everything that possibly could be in the relationship, becoz words do matter, and remembering why you fell in love with that person is even more important...this is a beautiful write Smooth...i really get captured in your poetry, thank you for sharing this one...
