There is a river that runs through my veins
For each night I feel the pain
Desperate feelings of anticipation and loss
Undeniable guilt of cost

Wake up gasping for air
Carrying the worlds burdens and cares
Heart pounding, eyes swollen red
Sweat covering my forehead

No one knows this pain of struggle
Under it’s weight I could buckle
Pounding headache all day long
Can hardly handle things that go wrong

For this is the life that I have choose
This is the territory that goes
Of living life under stress
Struggling to make it through each test

To change now, it’s too late
I’m left to deal with this fate
Life’s path has left me dry
Questions the reason for why

Don't know why no one has commented here. I can almost *feel* the anxiousness within the words. Other than punctuation, I have nothing to add. This was a very good poem. Blessings!

Is it ever too late?
If we let Him change us, He will.
Good write.

Sometimes I write poem songs about river streams with cold water there. I like the strong work. Keep up the good.
