I love the idea that this evil creature is irreversibly intertwined with human nature. I am also interested by the weapon darker than he. Could this be the ultimate evil of the world? Could it be our deepest, darkest desires? I'd suppose that part of the terror of this darkness is that we cannot see it, even when confronted by evil. In a way it offers some hope to us as human beings. If we cannot recognize this darkest weapon, though we are stained with sin, perhaps we are not completely soiled. Even in our darkest reality, we have not fallen to a place of pure evil.
