Array ( [sid] => 7836 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Gasping for breath [time] => 2002-12-02 13:30:00 [hometext] => hi im ashleigh im 16 and i liv in sydney Aus and i have been suffering depression for 2 years. ive attempted suicide twice and i write to relieve my pain (im sorry thats so cliche) [bodytext] => I'm drowning, deeper, somewhere.
In an ocean of despair.
The water laps around me
As i struggle for the air.

The water chills me to my core.
The emptiness surrounds,
As i embrace my loneliness.
My cry of help resounds.

I cut my body, make me bleed,
Rip out my hair and scream.
I pray to God that i'll wake up
And realise life's a dream.

I'm running down a tunnel dark.
When will my journey end?
I'll continue down my serpentine path
Without a loving friend.

My silent screams unnoticed,
As i reach towards the blade.
One lost girl, the world will forget
Myself i could not save....

This is a very well writen, but horrible poem. (if you know what I mean.) I feel so bad that you feel this way. You always have friends, but maybe you don't realize it. I know this because I was in the same situation as you, and one day a friend came along and helped me out. It makes me feel horrible inside when I realize that I almost died...

you write so well and i do understand what you are going through although my pain and suffering maybe of a different context i have attempted suicide and been on the brink of suicide many times druing my 36 years here on this planet... you will have friends that will come and go in your life but the ones that are true friends will emain with you 100% no matter what and the important thing here is to get what you are feeling out on paper just as you have done here.. congragulations on expressing your feelings so well... great write.
peace love and happy poetry and p.s. remember you are not alone in your feelings

Welcome to YPDC..this poem touched me deeply, i have been in this place many times before, one which im struggling with being in right now and it's hard...just know that even tho people may not show you that they care they do...i know there was one inspiration here on this site in the forums from one person that said somthing that helped inspire me in many ways...my heart goes out to you in your time of need...i hope your not going to do anything to harm yourself because there are people in this world who love and care for you, your much more better than to let life's hard struggles overcome who you are as a person...Beleive in yourself..

its a lil ironic how many people have been through this same thing, and write poetry...lol, but i certainly hear you. i tried promising myself not to feel that desperate again, so i wouldn't attempt it again, but i feel really crummy right now actually, and hope i can get through this. always hear to listen...

This is such a sad poem and it really got to me. I have felt this way a million times+ but if I'm still around to talk about it, there's hope for you too. Even if you feel writing is your only confidant know that your writing is remarkable and that right there is a positive . Life is hard but nobody knows what may come in the next.. Try thinking positive and if you can let me know how =)

Take care
R.

"I don't know why.... but someone will make you cry..... and I don't know how.... but I will get you by... I will try .... and there not trying to cause you pain ... they're just afraid of loving you ... and I don't know why ... I know these things ... but I do."

A song from this song I heard once, I thought it was touching and inspirational... hang in there sweetie, you will find your way out of the darkness and into the light those that love you. You just have to keep searching, keep believing, keep trying. You are a hell of a writer, please don't stop.
Sincerely,
Smooth

A very excellent poem. I suffered depression at the age of 10 and haven't quite been the same since. I'm 14 now and its still been a long hard struggle for me. I have been very close to leaving goodbye but because of the love of a family member, I stayed. In many ways, I credit her for saving my life. She died in April of 2001, and sometimes I feel lost without her. I get those suicide feelings a lot lately but I try to be as positive as I can to stay alive. I now have a friend who has been going through the same things as me and sometimes I wonder why i'm living if i'm gonna have pain for the rest of my life? Anyways...great write.
