Array ( [sid] => 7608 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Holding On [time] => 2002-11-28 09:30:00 [hometext] => I wrote this poem, because just the other day something happened between my best guy friend and my ex boyfriend and I realized some pretty surprising things. So I decided to write this, in tribute; to all the times me and my ex did share, and everything I've overcome since him. [bodytext] => Reading through our memoirs
I can still envision the day we met
Summer awakening in the midst of commotion
The first moments, that I'll never forget

Phone calls that followed
Burning steady into the night
Our relationship took off
The connection felt right

My nights were still restless
My concience felt like cold wind
-Dont hold me too tight,
My heart musn't be pinned-

Long nights felt longer
As you slowly stole my heart
No words can describe
How this all came to start

Days went to weeks
Before your lips met mine,
-Hold me forever,
Until the end of time-

You told me you loved me
Nothing could go wrong
You were my glimpse of heaven
What kept me going strong

...If there is a god...
I dont know what he was on,
Because one day you were with me
And the next...you were gone

Tears felt like metal
Tearing through my skin
-Why did you let go,
Of everything that could've been?-

My shaking was rapid
My eyes were a flood
With hundreds of tears
That tasted like blood

I would have done anything
Just to get you back
-How could you hold my heart,
Then jolt and attack?-

These feelings continued
Like the seasons of the year
For times, you would be there
But soon you would disapear

You called for my heart
Time after time
After each you'd rebel
And crush it to slime

From the dank I would crawl
To stand by your side
-Why can't you hold on,
To the love I provide?-

Well, one day life shifted
The world turned the right way,
I forgot how I felt for you
There's not much more to say

But how can I tell you-
"I've finally let go."
-When I was still holding on
And you didn't even know?- [comments] => 3 [counter] => 175 [topic] => 24 [informant] => flirtyrockstar [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LoveRemembered )

beautifully written. Isn't it a wonder how we do forget in time, about the one we pined for. Im glad you let go, and move onward. Sometimes those best friends that are just guy friends, end up being the one to be with. That takes time too to see. Nice write...

I think this is such a good poem - you've expressed so many different emotions and then, closure. Good write!

P.S. - Plus I'm partial because it reminds me of my first love - We were both eleven when we met and I always knew he was going to be my man. Didn't come about until I just turned sixteen. He was so beautiful and a poet.....and alot of other things, but I loved him always in spite of whatever wrong road he drcided to take. Thought if I loved him enough he'd change. But you can't change anybody or make them settled when they are hellbent on running wild. You have to just let them go.........
