[bodytext] => Fun On The Open Road
The engine fired effortlessly into life. Purring like a big cat, I slipped her into first, eased of the clutch, Crunching down a muddy track. Pirelli grip hard, spraying gravel and mud like fodder into the night. A startled pheasant cries out, Plume flayed with fright. Speedometer nudges fifty, revcounter reaches four. Cylinders pump hard with power, As the pedal trounces the floor. Dirt spatters the windshield, wipers clean the screen clear. Adrenaline pumping hard now, I have little fear. Pulling the off roader left, I fly past ancient oaks. What tales they could tell, To all us humble folk. A tractor halts my fun, I slip down to first. But no matter what I do to get past, I fail, stare, and curse. Pulling over, the moon shines majestically bright. Illuminating the car, Driving away the creeping night. Tiredness slowly begins to take a firm hold. Huddling down, I sleep safe, From the biting cold. Mornings light wakes me cold but refreshed, Only a dull throb inside my head. I think its time to head back, And curl up in a proper bed.
