Please protect my heart from all life’s spears,
I can’t fight it alone anymore,
In you I thought I’d found my cure.

As I sail down this river of shattered dreams,
Things are the worst that they’ve ever been,
I am lost I have no paddle,
My beautiful horse has lost its saddle.

On the horizon is nothing for me but pain,
That keeps spinning out again & again,
I look, trying, hoping to see someone,
I reach up high to touch the sun.

But it has gone, vanished from my sky,
In my ears ring the words goodbye,
Everyone is leaving, leaving me behind,
Here I am alone stuck in the daily grind.

My tears go unseen & unheard,
I can no longer see my eyesight’s now blurred,
I keep on wiping, but they keep on falling,
To my heart I hear sadness calling.
