Array ( [sid] => 71620 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Less Like Strangers [time] => 2004-11-15 16:47:24 [hometext] => We all go through tough times with our parents, but just remember: No matter how you feel about them, they love you and you wouldn't be here if it weren't for them. So tell them how you feel before it's too late. [bodytext] => I remember all the times
That I would drown out my nights
With one too many drinks
And I’m sorry for all the things I did
And said to you
I owe my life to the both of you
The patience you’ve kept
And passed down to me
Gives me the strength
To deal with almost anything
And I’d deliver a bloody fist
To those who would destroy it
The love you’ve given me
Is a perfect example of unconditional
And I’ve often failed to return the favor.
For some reason I’ve never been able
To open myself up to you
And for that I blame myself…
Mother and I would sit and watch the rain
Pour down from a humid Florida sky
And it’s those rare days that I cherish most
And father; your ability to make the best of everything
Is a gift I’ll forever thank you for
Every waking moment
I wish you were less like strangers
And I know that this is somehow
A mistake that I have made
For some reason I’ve pushed myself
Away from you
And this is hard for me to change
If only I could reverse time
If I could somehow bridge this gap
If this were easy for me
I wouldn’t bother writing this
And I’d tell you how I feel face to face
But I’m sorry that I’m weak
So I wrote this for you. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 174 [topic] => 50 [informant] => Diatribe [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ApologyPoetry )

Absolutely beautiful. I feel exactly the same way, only you were able to put it into words better than I ever could. Amazing!
