[bodytext] => Getting Ahead Of Ourselves ~~~~ Are we getting ahead of ourselves? When we decorate for Christmas in October? What happen to Halloween and Thanksgiving? At the mall the other night My son was intoxicated by the lights That came from the Christmas trees at JC Pennys If I didn’t know better I would have sworn it was late December And some odd days left until Christmas Throughout-out the mall There were signs that Christmas was upon us From Dancing Santa’s to holiday music And I thought to myself Has Christmas really become this commercialized? Have we forgotten the real meaning of the season? As my son was taking it all in With the biggest grin his face could hold My wife was busy checking out all the latest gadgets Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a scrooge Christmas is my favorite time of the year It just has more meaning to me that toys and presents And I worry if we only concentrate on the commercial side Of this wonderful holiday, the true meaning will be lost And by Christmas day we will have lost the sparkle from our eyes Has our Nation become so busy that we need three months To prepare for a holiday? I guess I’m a fine one to talk As I carry home a wreath we just bought.
