fore truth is but a word to me.
Said of many by the score,
be now weary, and affraid.

Make not a bed to lie, but stand
of principal of a friend, one who
is there always to lend, be it
said behind the back, friend
be friend but grace does lack.

Of the one whose grace was
sought, now gone by the friends
of not. Know ye now the vacant
place, whose head now bows
in shamed disgrace.

Betrayed in memory never to end,
just as the false and lieing friend,
true forever until the end, to warm
the heart, to fill the soul with nothing
but excuse and lie.

We are but judged by the company
we keep, loyal and everlasting friend
or backstabing until the end. Why and
when is vision clear, the answer echos
in the wind...never...never...never. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 264 [topic] => 43 [informant] => aspenglow [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

Acquaintences are many. True friends are rare priceless jewels that I can count on one hand. Nothing could ever replace them.

Many choices, we choose, and see.......But only the GOOD ones stay within. Yes, we have many backstabbing aquaintances, but they are human; and no one can choose for another.

I am afraid all to often we are judged by the company we keep. I always used to warn my kids and grandkids about their friends..sometimes shootings occur and innocent people are killed because they're seen with people ... mistaken to be in gangs when they're not.. It's a shame but life is a shame sometimes. Did I read the poem wrong..just slap me ...

some friends don't stab you in the back -- they just throw you away. sometimes it's such a shock

Chris, I'm at awe in your recent writes...You have changed your whole format....and it's wonderful, a marvelous improvement. Has structure for your reader, and makes your poetry for reading easier.....it's simply splendid....I enjoyed this poem very much Chris........the ending was like salt in the pot! Ended with alot of seasoning and a big band. You choice of words was great also.
It's been said, and I'll repeat, "The only thing we know for sure about life, is that it just goes on!"
Wonderful Chris.......enjoyed every minute of my time with you
Hugs
consue

This was a beautiful write Chris. I don't know why you're gone, but I hope to see your return. All the best.
