breath held, eyes full of tears
as footsteps stop outside the room
face a whole new set of fears
dads been drinking again
turned mums crying into screams
telling her to shut her mouth
waking me from troubled dreams
the sound of my heart beating
keeping pace with fists on face
hoping for escape to come
to take me from this awful place
the hallway light steals my darkness
streaming in from open door
my refuge strewn across the room
and left exposed upon the floor
the familiar feel of boots on body
that taste of blood again on lips
and as he stands above me kicking
into itself my mind it slips
and now escape it calls for me
I follow it through every turn
and maybe this time its the one
and I will not have to return.

this really speaks to the reader...causing one to imagine for a moment what it is like to grow up in such a situation....making me realize that perhaps not having dad around was a blessing in disguise...great work.

this piece causes one to imagine what it is like to be a child in such a situation...and for me...to contemplate the notion that perhaps not having dad around was in some ways a blessing in disquise. great work.

I seen with my eyes,
I heard from my ears,
I felt in my heart,
The flowing of your tears.

I been where you are,
Maybe not as bad,
I remember oh remember,
All the fights.

I didn't hide under the bed,
I screamed outside,
Wanting to kill my dad,
Because what was happening inside.

I hollard out to GOD,
help me here I prayed.
over and over again.
Then it happened one day.

I finally got my prayer answered,
Dad became a new man,
God changed everything,
There was no more fights within...

I will pray for you and your family.

DO you really truly want GOD to come and help? will you seek him for only this... or seek him always ? will you give your life totally to him? or just a little.. take care. I am here if you want to talk.. I know that I know how it feels ...........
