The pain cut deeper with every breath,
Tears and heartache was all that could be seen,
What now is destruction once was serene.

Day after day the war raged on,
An internal battle with a trecherous song,
The war drums sounded with my beating heart,
Life and death is a world apart.

A battle was fought and life has lost,
Now my army will pay the cost,
So come tomorrow with the rising sun,
my world will cry at what i've become.

My battle wounds are deep and fresh,
My inner feelings always supressed,
Constantly thinking deeply about,
If maybe death is the only way out.

Now everything i see is in black and white,
Disgust is all that fills my sight,
Death is brought with every shout,
My war cries echo..all thoughout..

The poem moved me, I felt it was quite powerful. Our pain is so often viewed as our enemy and so we dread it so, yet it lets us know we are alive inside. Pain can be a motivator for change. When I have felt pain or grief, it felt like the surf. It would rush in and engulf you and then subside; and this pattern would repeat until the seas would calm.

Inspiring poem, Willofree
