The icy grip reached thru me,
And split my soul in two.
Your lips quiver searching for the words,
The ones I stole with my breath.
How deeply it cuts to see you like this.
A ghost of who you were.
Painting your face with sadness,
Your eyes are hollowed out.
Looking into those windows,
I know your not burning.
You are already burnt,
And beyond this horizon,
Armegedon falls like an A-bomb.
Just not the way you wanted it to.
It's the holocaust that's haunting me.
When I'm consumed with you. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 186 [topic] => 48 [informant] => deadreckoning1983 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

That one reads full of resignation. Knowledge that the past is gone and the future has been tainted with it's ugly decisions. Yet life moves on and we must simply accept these things as fact.
That is how it speaks to me ... nice write, again !!

Very strong and emotional poem. I really liked the lines
"You swallowed me inside your fingers.
The icy grip reached thru me,
And split my soul in two."
and
"A ghost of who you were.
Painting your face with sadness"
along with the last two. The ending is just plain incredible, i mean wow. Great job!

I love how you wrote this. Expanding on each thought in the next line. Sealing in the effectiveness of your message.
Graphic and wielding maximum emotive power.

Great job.
