And peeled away the skin
And then he tried to scrape away,
The thing that she had been.
When all the ***** was washed away
He sewed her up again
And hoped to see the one he loved
For she was his best friend
She looked no different to before
Yet did not speak a word
He kissed her mouth and spoke of love
And preyed that she had heard
As the tears ran down his face
He tried to wake her up once more
His hands were covered in her blood
And his poor heart was sore
He could not understand
Why his wife would not return
His hands began to sweat
And his stomach start to churn
Franticly now, he kissed her mouth
His hands wavered at her face
He suddenly realised what he'd done
And new he'd lost his place
He grabbed the knife
And cut into his chest
And then realised
He was insane, no less

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
