The average you or me?
Or the people making money
By dictating what we see?
Its hard to not be brainwashed
By those glossy magazines
Into thinking that pure thinness
Is what true beauty means.
Victims of the holocaust
Parade designer makes,
They miss the stolen womanhood
That getting thinner takes.
Starving for attention,
Begging to be fed,
Jogging all the way
On the road to being dead.
Emaciation: standard,
Sunken cheeks, the norm,
Surviving on a lettuce leaf
Is the world in which we’re born.
Concentration shatters,
Organs start to shrink,
Still the pro-thin brand-names
Never stop to think.
What will make them listen?
When will they realise,
That soon their target audience,
Will shrink beneath their eyes?

This a very powerful poem, and it should make people think. The next time someone feels too fa, or thinks they need to lose weight they should read this. I had a cousin who I was very close to, and anorexia nearly killed her. YThis is a beautiful poem, keep it up.

Dearest Ami @-<-<<-
Very strong poem here, and so true, you have a lovely caring soul and great vision, if this wasn't so serious a subject I would have smiled about the lettuce leaf.. your point herein' this is well taken and should be read by all..
Your friend always Nessa
