It's not a love poem... I'm just sick of something that I've been noticing a lot lately... (Is that a category...???) LOL... I hope you enjoy the read. [bodytext] => Why does everything anyone has to say
Always have to be marinated, thick, with cliche,
Why can't anyone ever tell me at least one original thought,
Instead of stealing ideas that are so old that they rot
Before they even reach the tip of the tongue?
Please don't forget that I'm young, not dumb.
I know that sometimes the "right words" are hard to come by,
But sometimes, all I need to hear is a sigh,
To let me know that you are feeling my pain,
I don't need a speech, it's just not the same,
When the words that I hear, aren't coming from you,
They aren't from the heart, not necessarily true,
I'm tired of the saying "Time heals all wounds..."
Why is that so easy to say when you can't feel the grief that looms?
Why does everyone have to live in cliche,
With every meaning, bleak and opaque,
It doesn't make sense, I don't want to hear those old lines,
If you must tell me that it will be all right.
Why can't anyone just realize that I don't need the speech...
I just need someone tangible, there, in my reach,
To help me through the dark times with a smile,
Not give me a cliched speech that goes on for miles.
Maybe I'm just a little over the edge...
Maybe I'm just tettering a bit on the ledge...
But please take my words to heart...
Don't ever give me a cliched remark... [comments] => 5 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 25 [informant] => ginsdance [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )

Hi Gin,
Perhaps some people feel safe in those clichés opening up and showing their feelings makes them vulnerable. Maybe they had to hear them when they were growing up and just don’t know what else to say. I’m sure if they are people who love you, they are encouraging you the best way they know how. Not everyone has the gift to articulate there feelings or ideas or have the courage to open up their hearts.
Thanks for your comments also.
Carmen

I really liked this poem... It flowed nicely, and your language is really quite pleasant despite your serious message. Have a nice day. Butterat Zool.

YESSSS!!!! I totally understand. My wife and I experienced a miscarriage a few years ago and all we heard was, "Maybe it wasn't meant to be." "I'm sure God had a reason for this" "Time heals all wounds" and so on and so on. Time doesn't heal all wounds and we didn't care if it was meant to be. It still hurts and all we really needed was to be held and allowed to lose it for awhile. Thank God we had/have each other.
