Array ( [sid] => 54185 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Off to the Lee's I'll be [time] => 2004-06-29 20:44:19 [hometext] => Though I would never call my life wonderful I know that I have been given a very special gift: two of the best people who ever graced this earth as my grandparents. Everytime I think of them my heart swells with pride. A small tribute to them. [bodytext] => When I lay all in pieces
Here upon the craggy ground
And love comes from nowhere near
I will not despair
For I have a place I can go to find the love I seek
Oh, take me South to an ever open door
To a sun shined house warm and whole
To the few people left genuinely pure
Off to the Lee’s I’ll be

I can never lie, saying no one cares
When two, I know, always will
They who set examples with their lives
Who inspire hope and virtue
From the core of who they are
Simply being in their presence makes me free
Off to the Lee’s I’ll be

All the struggles that I face
They’ve faced ten fold worse
But such things they will never say
Strong pillars of humble righteousness
They are a blessing to those around them
I love to be in their company
Off to the Lee’s I’ll be

So when I’m in need of true guidance
And wisdom I can trust
Or just a good meal and a soft bed for sleep
I’ll turn my feet towards sweet south ‘Bama
And off home to Calvin and Idelma I’ll be [comments] => 3 [counter] => 376 [topic] => 55 [informant] => MLCstar [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

This is a very nice tribute. It's nice to have somewhere to go where you are loved and welcomed. You are a very lucky person! From reading this I'm sure you know it. Good write.

What a beautiful sentiment. Aren't grandparents the best? Mine are all gone now, but I treasure the memories like they were from another world. Thanks for sharing.
