I can see you walking that desert road.
The sound of rocks crunching underfoot.
I can't even imagine the size of your load.
Or this situation in which you were put.

You stepped up when you were called upon.
Strapped on your gear and boarded the plane.
Before the reality set in, you were gone.
Not sure if you would ever see us again.

You were led to believe that this was right.
Knew deep down that something was wrong.
Didn't have much choice, but to go in and fight.
You keep your head up and remain strong.

The explosion brings you out of your reverie.
You and your comrades hit the dusty ground.
The smoke was thick, and you couldn't see.
All you could hear was that shattering sound.

The sound you heard was coming from you.
You were screaming from the pain inflicted.
Your leg laid open by the grenade that blew.
It was a scene few could have depicted.

Aboard the plane, you were heading back.
This sickening war is finally over for you.
Four weeks later, it was time to repack.
It seemed that there was more work to do.

Before your healing was even complete.
You returned to the place you once strode.
Head still held high, no sign of defeat.
I can see you limping down that desert road.

The tears are flowing Ron so sad that we have to go to war and kill or hurt people.

In an ideal world......well some people in these world are pure evil and it is those who create some wars.
Sometimes it is caused by pure greed. It is the soldiers who suffer the most and innocent people life is so unjust this way

May god watch over the person with whom you have written about.

May he and all the other soldiers have a safe passage home

Love And peace to all

Love Sweetangelukxxxx

wow this is a great poem, i can't even begin to imagine what the troops must be going through, war is such a scary thing and I only watch it from home, but to be there on the frontline must be so horrific :( 5/5

This flows so easily and almost makes it all seem real. War is a terrible thing and this poem is very unsettling because it captures so many scary feelings and images. It was very well written and I think you are very talented. Great work!

Blessings
Love, Jenna
