I tried not to hear them
You uttered them softly with the utmost care.
Like a perfect kiss under pale moonlight
Your words prickled my every hair.

But the chill that ran through me was not one of bliss
Nor was it from the winter's cold.
It was a chill of horror and fear
Fear of losing hold.

Get away, you're smothering me!
Get away, you're cutting off my air!
Please just take it all back
You don't mean what you said, I swear.

It was your words that held me down
But in my mind I saw your hands
Growing tighter around my neck
I couldn't handle your demands.

What was it that you wanted me to do?
Did you expect me to say 'I love you, too'?
Well maybe I do.
But it's too late now.

I like this a lot... and I definately relate to it. 'I love you' seems so simple to some... too simple, I think. For others it can be overwhelming... can be difficult. I could have easily chosen 'Formerly Numb' in leui of Silent-No-More for my screen name. It took a long while to get to either though... regardless, I still remember the fear...

Thanks for sharing this! Nicely done!
