I can still remember the last hug and the last kiss
I can still remember how hard it was for me to say goodbye and walk away from you
That weekend with you was perfect no better word could describe
Being in your arms every night as I fell asleep felt so right
Then waking up to see you with a big smile on your face
The way you held me and held my hand around town
You always seemed so happy when we were together
You stared into my eyes and kissed me like I was something special to you
The night was perfect, you looked so good in your uniform
I remember you told me that I looked beautiful
The night went on, and that one dance seemed to last forever
For that time being I had a glimpse of what heaven felt like
But as the moon falls, the sun does have to rise
That meant it was time for me to go
I woke up that morning, in your arms again once more
But I dreaded getting out of bed
For I knew once I did I would have to leave you
We slowly got ready and took the elevator back down
You held my hand as we walked into the parking lot
Our cars were loaded, our bags all packed, now it was time to say goodbye
You held me close, you held me tight
I wanted to breakdown and cry, but I couldn’t let you see me do that
You kissed me kiss after kiss, as if it would be the last
Then we finally had to let go and say goodbye
We held hands as we walked away until they finally slipped apart
I walked backwards to my car watching you walk towards yours
You looked back and gave me that look that you didn’t want to leave
At that moment I wanted to run back to your arms where I felt so safe and loved
But I held myself back and got into my car
As I drove away I couldn’t help but stare at you in my rearview mirror as you drove the other direction
Right then I broke down in tears, I missed you already
The eight hour drive home seemed to last forever
All I could think about was you!
But now you are gone, and no longer in my life
If I knew that then
I would’ve held you a little tighter for a little longer
Kept with you me for more time than I had
If I knew this then I would’ve never had let you go to begin with
But it’s all over now, and all I have left are the memories of how we used to be
And I can’t help but cry when I think of you
I can still remember the last time we said goodbye
I can still remember the last hug and the last kiss
I can still remember how hard it was for me to say goodbye and walk away
All I have left now are memories of what could have been
I can still think back on all the yesterdays. But they aren’t the same
They aren’t the same cause you are no longer in my life
So I’ll just sit here with my memories that I always will remember
Cause besides my love, that’s all that I have left of you
The memories will never fade
Nor will my love
The tears will never stop falling when I think about you
But me and you are over and that is what I don’t want to remember!

Very sad poem. While reading this I couldn't help but to remember the one I loved and having to say goodbye.
