I dream a dream of me and you
Forever together, happy and free
In my mind you are all I can see

From one moment to the next
No longer my soul is vexed
I feel at peace, I am at total calm
Your presence heals like a soothing balm

But then I awake, I realize what’s real
My dream cannot be true, and I cannot heal
My heart is scarred from over the years
My mind is haunted by doubts and fears

My dream dissolves as quickly as it came
Although each night my dream is the same
The most comforting moment in my life’s time
Is when into my bed at night I climb

The worst is in the morning when I awake
Reality sets in, I realize my dream was fake
I go about my day, I see your sweet face
But somehow the nightmares I cannot erase

What I want more than anything I will never truly gain
Except in my imaginary world of dreams
Your love was all I wanted to attain
By now my world is coming apart at the seams

If only I could live forever in a dream
But always I awake, back to reality
I’ll never be happy or so it would seem
Somehow I’ll overcome my own frailty

This is a very moving piece of writing, beautifully expressed words of pain and hurt, I hope that you can find happiness again and find a reason to smile .........
