The endless obscurity that clouds my scrutiny
The torturous mess that fogs my perceptions
That forever fuels my twisted mind’s mutiny

I strive to exonerate these feelings from my mind
Trying to forever absolve these depressive thoughts
Now revert to half-hearted attempts of vindication
Despite attempts at clarity, my perspective still distorts

Combining the bitterness of pills and potent alcohol
Within the confines of the glass bottles, I seek relief
Swallow. Ignore the sour taste in return for deliverance
Only to be denied. From the pain, it grants no reprieve

It appears futile. Depression it seems, has taken over
Find liberation that neither pill nor brew can present
Seek the comforting power that lies within the trigger
Feel the emancipation when your crushed soul transcends

Wow I am surprised that I am the first to
comment on this... this is indeed a powerful
piece written with a depth of feeling that many
would be hard pressed to convey. I like how
the poem starts off with a question it shows
the turmoil in your mind. I will definitely be
checking out more of your writes. Keep your
head above the water.
