Lovely Linda, cyber cutie,
I'm bedazzled by your beauty,
Prettiest girl I've never met,
You Goddess of the Internet.

Met one night by lucky chance,
(Wasn't looking for romance,
Just some fun and idle chat,
Quiet flirtation - stuff like that).

Then - just like a sonic boom -
A Presence entered the chatroom,
Feisty, flirty, fresh and new,
Lovely Linda - it was you!

Even now the memory lingers,
Our trembling, sweaty, flying fingers,
We flirted, played and teased apace,
In wondrous, mind-wide cyber-space.

Who needs full moons, twinkling stars,
Balmy breezes, soft guitars?
Who needs love ephemeral,
When there's computer terminals?

Oh how fast the months flew by,
Steadfast lovers, you and I,
But one day - so strange to tell,
I met a man who knew you well.

We'd started chatting just by chance,
I'd told him of our great romance,
Then, just before he rose to go,
He said, "There's something you should know".

It was worse than my worst fears,
I could scarce hold back my tears

You did what you shouldn't ought 'er,
Sent a pic of your grandaughter!
Alone through life I'm doomed to roam,
While you stay in the Old Folks' Home.

Lovely Linda, fix this mess,
Send your grandaughter's address!!

Oh the cruel twist of fate !!
This Internet world is truly a strange place, full
of lies and trickery.
If only people online would be themselves.I've met a lot of people pretending like this.A good piece...I'm sure so many people have been in this position too.

This is no internet love poem. While all of the hormonal men and women on the net fantasizing about people they don't know could learn a thing or two from this, your distinct, yet subtle undertones make this poem pure humor.

It's been the longest time since you last posted, and each one of them worth waiting for.
