There’s just no chance that we’ll ever live in bliss
You say you have nothing, no reason to stay
That everyone would be better off if you just went away

So close you’ve come to just ending it now
And I’ve got to convince you that isn’t the way somehow
People here need you, love you and care
To abandon us now just isn’t fair

We’ve come to depend on your words of advice
And contrary to what you believe it’s not just because you’re “nice”
You’re the friend that I’ve been searching for throughout the years
The only person who’s gotten me through all my fears

I can open up and tell you what’s there
Because somewhere deep inside I know that you care
There's just a feeling of comfort that’s felt when we speak
I felt if after only one week

You can ask anyone, anyone that I’ve known and talked to
I don’t tell them anything, really, but I tell them about you
About how kind and compassionate and how great you are
But how I still feel like you’re just so far

You’re the only person that I’ve felt actually cared about me
But even that, now, I just don’t see
Everything you say I twist to make it a lie
Every time you say something I just want to cry

You’ve made such a difference to me, and you know it too
You just seem to love playing the part of the fool
You’ve agreed to meet me and I couldn’t be more overjoyed
But I’m afraid that all will be left of you is a void
You say once you’ve fulfilled your “duty” to me you won’t have a goal
You will have finally played out your role
If this is your plan, an idea that you can enter then just leave
Then I’m here to tell you that it’s not what I need
I need you to be here, to just be my friend
Because friends are supposed to stay until the very end… [comments] => 1 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 48 [informant] => CeciliaBanks [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
