And loneliness; the crystal tear
And isolation breathes happiness
Through this blissful freedom

(But I have never felt so alone)

They all shall flee you, but it's okay
Your despair is all too much for them
They said they’d be there; they love you (-they lie)
And thus you're alone again

Oh and solitude is beautiful
And don't despair that no one cares
For isolation breathes a sense of something
To hold onto with your empty heart

(And I have never felt so alone)

Take within you their lies
For we have little else
Pretend you love them, as they said they did you
Make-believe what they say is true

For solitude is beautiful
You don't need anyone but yourself
Don't trust in anyone, not a soul
Keep your secrets within your heart

Oh solitude is so beautiful
And loneliness; the crystal tear
Love can only break your heart
And I should have known

(I have never felt so alone)

And loneliness; the crystal tear. Beautiful and sad.. so sad. But, as one who has felt it ....I knew the line well. Deep, dark and sad. Justalady

Wow, this is really, really, really, well done. You say it so beautifully . . . I especially liked the use of parentheses, it really made-- ack, I can't describe it. But it somehow brought significance, leave it at that. Nice work.

so much power and beauty expressed, the repetition of '(I have never felt so alone) just increased the power of the emotions... Just WoW!

Your own lovliness is reflected within the beauty of this work. So tender and bitingly sweet. Exceptional. I absolutely love it.
Many thanks for this insight.

i was going to cut and paste the first three stanzas and rant about them, until i read the rest. then i realized i'd just have to copy the whole ***** scrawl. if this isn't my favorite scrawl on the site, it's got to be in the top three and i really can't remember another one right now that i enjoyed as much. i'm at a loss for something creative or original to say in praise of this so i'll just say, damn, excellent scrawl.

Charlotte . . . damn . . .

Reading this one again. I can't think how many people I've reccommended this to; how many times I've re-read this poem. It's one of my top YPDC favorites and each time it means a little bit more. At the moment it means too much for me to form a coherent, pleasant comment, so I'll hush :).

I just realized that the comment I just posted here was my 500th. I was waiting for a really spectacular one to make my 500th comment on. At the moment, I can't think of a better one for it than this :).
