How I cut my body, the pain I release
It started all those years ago, I won't say why
Feeling better pulling my hair out, rather than cry

Stabbed myself with a pencil, through the back of my hand
Just because I was angry, you won't understand
The relief you get, it's like letting poison out
Cleansing my system, others scream and shout

My emotions build up, until I can take no more
I pull a razor across my arm, it isn't very sore
Scarring lines I make, coloured crimson red
Releasing pent up anger, as my body I have bled

I get so frustrated, there's only one thing to do
Maiming myself, before I would hurt you
Freedom from the torment, escape from the pain
Taking a knife from the drawer, I slash myself again

I'm not asking for pity, or trying to explain
It's how I deal with life, I am not insane
Lifes pressures get to you, feeling there's no hope
We all release the tensions, this is just how I cope

Thank you. Answered a few of my questions. I just sit and stew about things. Like you said no one is wrong or insane it is just different ways to cope.

Well-written and instead of just dwelling on hurting yourself you also explained why you did it...the last line really summed it all up, I think. Well done.

These self mutilation poems convey a message that not many people seem to get; soo many are doing it that it's hard to find someone that's not and shocking to learn who is. I enjoy poems like this one. They make me miss the addiction i use to love. Since I stoped no one's been safe so it makes me wonder if I should start again.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
