Cat-O-Nine tails were rocking to and fro Hiding behind the fog somewhere on the horizon The sun, dipped in gold, peeked up from the lands crest The usually obnoxious geese were now quietly flying above Cautiously glancing downward in search of a gleam from a shotgun barrel In it's unknowing stupidity a fly crept up alongside a bullfrog As the croak sounded, he attempted to retreat but failed An old rusty Ford pick up truck was steadily moving down the road Sweeping up the dust and kicking it out behind it to scamper in the breeze Old Johnny Redmond wide eyed and yawning headed to work A bit of eggs still clinging to his roughly shaven face The tires spitting the rocks around as it sped away Scaring a black eyed raccoon back into his slumber under the bridge Peering out through 6 foot tall drying cornstalks a Doe stuck out her nose Must have caught a wiff of old Johnny for her tail pointed to the sky Crickets were playing their morning symphony that echoed through the area The turtles were listening propped up on a beaver chewed log Dragonflies whisped across the water playin tag with one another They must store their energy inside those long hind quarters Ripples formed across the water as a blue gill jumped for breakfast Breaking up the patterns of moss floating on the surface A dark musty smell loomed in the air Black coals on the ground were still warm from last night's fire Broken bottles and fried chicken bones sprawled out across the ground Evidence of a tumultuous teen party that took place A family of bunnies tucked quietly in a nook Shivering from the last bit of coolness that lingered There's serenity to be found behind the wall of trees Putting all minds at ease, it welcomes the trespass [comments] => 3 [counter] => 170 [topic] => 27 [informant] => Lia [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )
