This is also another write after a night of no sleep and a long hard look at myself and my life...in retrospect. Please Comment. [bodytext] => Fake a smile just to avert attention
Put on your world famous show
Looks more to me like an unwanted side-show gag-
where a fat lady with overactive glands shows off her well trimmed facial hair
or some lonely clowns ride unicycles ten men high!-

This is where I come day after day
week after week and year after year
To your place; your puppet show
Full of idiots and fools all alike-
STARING...you!

Did you ever imagine life could turn out so horrible?
Broke and alone on this dark desert road
No trucks passing you by,
no one there to pick up this lonely hitch-hiker
who just needs some conversation to fill the void.

She wanted to be so much (this hitchhiker)-
amount to something; anything!
She never realized how hard that would be-
once she actually began to live-
Reality finally blew down all her walls and made itself at home
It's not all fun and games; there’s some work to be done
No second season sitcom success
Because you were canceled as soon as the pilot aired.

Looking at you from where I stand
I can't help but laugh and mock
"potential"- My ***
You never had a chance!

Again- smile! They won't suspect a thing-
Afterall, it's only you looking in this mirror-
You are your hardest critic at all the most convenient times
Mirrors reflect us in two ways-
who we are (what I see when I look at you)
and who you want to be (what you see).
Just take my advice!

I understand the feeling, as i've had many sleepless nights of my own. It's true y'know: everyone is their own worst critic.

Very good poem, strong and relatable.

Truly,
-V.S.

Sleepless nights often cause us to think things that are often left unsaid. A bit harsh the bit of verse but after all... the eyes are the window to the soul and where else to see our soul than a mirrored image. Honesty can be our friend or foe. Well said.

Very well written my friend, i found the first few lines so funny because they are so damn true, couldn't put it any better myself. It is very sad but also unfortunately true. Not one of us can really remove our masks, forever trapped within a one way mirror of truth, i like your poem alot. Here is one for you...

The body a canvas
The mind a brush
We paint our own portrait.

Take care my friend, thanks for all your comments....
