Song of Lament

Over the mountains
From the sea
The land stretched out
Too far to see
The land runs red
The enemy bold
Twas all proclaimed,
Prophesies old.

The sky does cry
Its tears rain down
Falls on the dead
Lying on the ground
Its sorrow soothes
Down from above
Cov’ring the lost
The ones I love

Weep not for me
Always I’ve known
I’ll sacrifice
My life, my own
I’ll never see
Thy sons again
They lie beneath
The Sylvan glen

Now rest, my love
Your pain is stayed
Your sleeping place
A stone-cold grave
The peoples freed
They count the lost
Evil repelled
But, what a cost!

Back to the west
My pain I flee
The price too great
It wears on me
Immortal love
I’ve never sought
I now will die
My chosen lot

Now hie away
The gray boats sail
I grasp for peace
But to no avail
The only thing
Can mend my heart
To know in death
We’ll never part.

"Almost moving"? What was not moving?
