That kids go hand in hand
With all the bad things that go on
People misunderstand

It's hard being a parent
Kids don't come with a manual
You don't even get a home check
Like you do if re-homing a spaniel

The demands you can meet when they're little
It's when they grow up that it starts
The attitude, the stress and the mood swings
Thats when they start breaking you heart

And you think,"Where did I go wrong"?
"Is this all down to me"?
But kids, they have a mind of their own
And a spirit that wants to be free

With all the best will in the world
You give them all you can
You guide and shape their souls from birth
With a kind and gentle hand

Sometimes that's just not enough
And through no fault of your own
Your child starts changing before you
And the seeds of mistrust are sewn

At a certain age they're grown ups
Even though you don't agree
They've found their independence
And the nest they want to flee
