Don’t want to hear the ridicule
The words said, the snickers heard
Seen as a failure, lazy and fat
If only they knew how it felt to be me
Maybe they would show some maturity
Obesity is rarely due to an eating disorder
It can be genetic or a side effect of some medications
Either way it is an illness not a lack of self control
Diet and exercise though we will
Some will never shed the pounds they need to
Forced to endure the laughs and stares
Unable to live a full life like everyone else
Feels like a handicap
Unable to fit into most seats
Afraid of chairs breaking
Never get a full nights sleep
Anxiety and depression follow in our wake
This is not a state we wish to be in
Skinny, healthy, and happy
Seems a goal we cannot reach
Weight watchers, jenny craig
Slim fast, starvation
All have been tried and tried again
Seems to me there may be only one alternative left
A drastic change in lifestyle is called for
A surgeons help may be all I need
To change my body and my attitude
Learn to view food as a fuel and not a treat
Now I simply wait my turn in line
For soon I will go under the knife

Woah! Major decision there. Let me know when you go and I'll put out a prayer request for all to go well. Many in my family have struggled with weight and food issues. I know what it is and isn't. A good job of describing your feelings.

great write, you have to love your self no matter what people say or think about you. you can go under the knife, but a knife can't change what in your head. only you can do that. fat or Skinny.

You just said everything i have ever wanted to say in that poem, im overweight heavily (excuse the pun) not due to any disorders or biological reason, just i eat irregularly, i eat when im hungry, i snack, i dont eat breakfast, and i have alarge meal in the evenings, my body image and self esteem are so poor i cant stand to look at myself sometimes and i feel like going under the knife, but then i think of how mature that isnt and realise its the wrong way to go i commend you on an amazing write
