Array ( [sid] => 33063 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A Pledge [time] => 2004-01-29 00:35:04 [hometext] => This is basically about feeling frustrated as an American today, and I am not your typical BASH THE USA!! kind of person [bodytext] => I pledge allegience to a flag
To a society too high
I pledge allegience to a flag
That will wrap my coffin when I die
I pledge my allegience
To a republic failing in health
And my full respects to the upper class
Who dare not share their wealth
To the blue collared people
Who built this land with blood red
I pledge my allegience to a superior race
White, Republican, Well-Bred.
I pledge my allegience
To the modern oppressive regime
I pledge my allegience
To every broken American dream.
And a patriot's allegience
To God up most high
Watching down upon us
As our tainted flag does fly
Indivisible because we are already divided
One nation of mindless clones
An illiterate in the White House
Congress filled with emotionless drones
I pledge my allegience
to life and liberty
I pledge my allegience
to the America we used to be
A nation of ideas
A nation built for change
A nation for the purple mountains
Not just the stock exchange
I watch a flag be shamed
Flying darker everyday
That flag flies high and asks of God
To save the U.S.A.

this is how we expect Americans to feel In Ireland because it is how we feel about our country. but in America all we have seen is people cheering the hate on or screaming about their own impotence to change whats happening.

it is a very good poem, thankyou for sharing
