Yet somehow she made my heart pound,
And when I smiled at her, as men do,
Full beam, she smiled at me too.

I stuttered the words from my head,
To the dance floor there I led,
Slow music and, as men do, I held her tight,
Just us two on a crowded floor that night.

We walked hand in hand towards her place,
Smiling glances, my heart it just raced,
As men do, I kissed her, she blew my mind,
By returning with tongue my kiss in kind.

This guy's in love, I heard my mind say,
And, as men do, I called her up the next day,
Where did time go as we talked and talked,
Arranged for soon to go for a long walk.

Blazers and dresses in the summer sun,
Came in my mind that she was the one,
When the long loving walk came to a rest,
As men do, my hand gently brushed her breast.

As men do, I said all the right words,
Mentioned flowers, fluffy clouds and birds,
And when I tried I didn't have to beg,
As she let me run my hand right up her leg.

Not long after I promised we'd be wed,
She let me take her upstairs to her bed,
As men do, my joy I couldn't hide,
Our bodies became one as I rode inside.

Moved in together as long term lovers,
And, as men do, had tea with her Mother,
Lover and Mom outlined plans ahead,
A lot more than just sharing body and bed.

So here I am married, mortgage and child,
Long gone now the days of being so wild,
Be careful thus that this doesn’t happen to you,
A long time to wonder why, as men do.

I loved the story found in your poem. It gives me something to ponder. It was absolutely great.
